Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how RepairSetu ("RepairSetu", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information through the RepairSetu mobile application (the "App") and the website at repairsetu.in (the "Website"), together the "Service". It applies to technicians and business owners who use the Service ("you"), and describes how information about your own customers, which you enter into the Service, is handled.
1. Two kinds of data, two roles
It helps to separate two categories of information:
- Your account data — information about you and your business (such as your name, phone number, email, business name, and team members) that you give us directly to set up and run your RepairSetu account. For this data, RepairSetu is the data controller/fiduciary.
- Your customers' data — information about your own customers (such as their name, phone number, address, appliance and job history) that you choose to record inside the App to run your business. For this data, you are the data controller/fiduciary, and RepairSetu is a data processor acting on your instructions, purely to provide the storage, sync, and invoicing features of the Service. You are responsible for having a lawful basis (such as your customer's engagement of your services) to collect and store their information.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide:
- Account details: name, phone number, email address, business name, and password or sign-in credentials.
- Customer records you add: customer name, phone number, address, and appliance details.
- Job records: job descriptions, status, priority, notes, photographs, parts used, and scheduling information.
- Invoices: line items, amounts, and payment status you record.
- Team data, if you run a multi-technician account: names, job assignments, and — where the technician has enabled it on their device — the live location of technicians you add, shown to the business owner/admin to assign jobs and confirm site visits.
- AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) records: the scheme, pricing, service schedule, and renewal dates you set up for a customer.
- Anything you send us directly, such as support emails.
Information collected automatically:
- Device and diagnostic information (such as device model, operating system version, app version, and crash logs), used to keep the App working and to fix bugs.
- Approximate or live location, only if you (or, for a technician on a team account, the business owner/admin) enable a location-based feature such as route planning or team location tracking, and only with the device's permission — this can be declined and the rest of the App still used. Technicians on a team account are shown, inside the App, that their live location is visible to their business owner/admin while this feature is enabled.
- Standard web server logs when you visit the Website (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited).
We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking on the Website. If that ever changes, we will update this Policy first.
3. How we use information
- To provide the Service: store and sync your customers, jobs, and invoices across your devices, including while offline.
- To operate your account: authenticate you, remember your preferences, and manage your team if applicable.
- To generate invoices and let you share them (for example, on WhatsApp, at your initiation, or as a PDF).
- To keep the Service secure and working: diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and fix bugs.
- To communicate with you about the Service, such as important updates or responses to support requests.
- To comply with applicable law, or to respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
We do not sell your data, or your customers' data, to anyone. We do not use your customers' data to advertise to them or to build products unrelated to the Service.
4. How we share information
We share information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers: infrastructure and cloud hosting providers we use to store data and run the App, bound to protect it and use it only to provide services to us.
- At your direction: for example, when you share an invoice on WhatsApp or export your data.
- Legal reasons: if required by law, regulation, legal process, or a valid request by a public authority in India.
- Business transfers: if RepairSetu is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you and the same protections carried forward.
5. Where your data is stored
Data may be stored on your device (so the App keeps working offline) and synced to servers operated by us or by our cloud infrastructure providers. Some infrastructure providers may process data outside India; where that happens, we require appropriate contractual safeguards to protect it to a standard consistent with this Policy.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures — such as encryption in transit and access controls — to protect information from unauthorised access, alteration, or loss. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep these protections current.
7. How long we keep data
We keep your account data and your customers' data for as long as your account is active, so the Service continues to work as intended. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records for longer to comply with applicable law (for example, invoicing/tax records).
8. Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law (including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you can:
- Access and export your account data and your customers' data at any time from within the App.
- Correct inaccurate information directly in the App.
- Delete your account and associated data, by writing to us or using in-app account deletion where available.
- Withdraw consent for optional features such as location access, at any time through your device settings.
- Raise a grievance about how we handle your data — see the contact section below.
If you handle personal data about your own customers through the Service, you are responsible for honouring any requests they make to you about their data (for example, a request to be deleted from your records), since you are the controller/fiduciary for that information.
9. Children's privacy
The Service is intended for use by technicians and business owners running a repair business, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
10. Third-party links and services
The Service links to or integrates with third-party services such as Google Play and WhatsApp. Those services have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read; this Policy does not cover how they handle your information.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or to applicable law. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
12. Grievance officer & contact
If you have questions about this Policy, want to exercise any of the rights above, or wish to raise a grievance regarding the processing of your personal data in accordance with applicable Indian law, please write to us at [email protected]. We aim to acknowledge and address genuine grievances within a reasonable time.
